WAVES2026 Code of Conduct
The organizers of WAVES2026 are committed to providing a professional, inclusive, and harassment-free experience for all conference participants, regardless of gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion or religious belief, age, marital status, disability, veteran status, immigration status, or any other characteristic unrelated to scientific merit. This policy applies to all conference participants, including attendees, speakers, organizers, and sponsors, and extends to all conference-related activities, venues, and communications.
Expected Behavior
All participants are expected to treat others with respect and collegiality, engage professionally in all scientific and social interactions, and support an environment that encourages the free and open exchange of ideas.
Prohibited Behavior
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:
- Sexual harassment, including unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature;
- Harassment of any kind, including bullying, intimidation, threatening behavior, stalking, or sustained disruption of talks or events;
- Discriminatory conduct or language based on any of the characteristics listed above;
- Display or distribution of sexually explicit, offensive, or denigrating images or materials.
- Harassment committed in a joking manner or disguised as a compliment still constitutes unacceptable behavior.
Reporting a Complaint
Any participant who experiences or witnesses behavior that violates this Code of Conduct is encouraged to report it promptly. Complaints may be submitted through either of the following channels:
By email: Send a report to behrooz.yousefzadeh@concordia.ca, which will be monitored throughout the conference. Anonymously: An anonymous reporting form will be made available on the conference website prior to and during the event. All complaints will be treated with confidentiality and handled promptly and fairly. Retaliation against anyone who files a complaint or provides information in connection with a complaint is strictly prohibited.
Resolution of Complaints
Upon receipt of a complaint, the organizing committee will review the matter and determine an appropriate course of action. Participants found to be in violation of this Code of Conduct may be warned, removed from the conference without a refund of registration fees, or reported to their home institution or relevant authorities, depending on the severity of the violation.
Dissemination
This Code of Conduct will be distributed to all registered participants prior to the conference via email and will be prominently displayed on the conference website. It will also be made available at the registration desk and other visible locations throughout the conference venue.
